Been and Gone

In 1983 four writers (Bruce Birchall, Paul Goetzee, Jim Morris and Denis Wainwright) met in a pub called Chancers and began to put on plays at lunchtime. Since then, as the Company has developed, LLT has set many writers on course for professional careers in stage, tv and radio. From Chancers LLT moved to the Albert Dock, the Royal Institution, the Playhouse Studio and finally to our present address at the Unity Theatre. LLT has produced full length plays, won commissions for writers, worked in schools, toured abroad, secured regular funding from Arts Council England and landed a three year lottery funded project called PRODUCTION LINE. In 2005 and 2006 LLT has also received funding from the Liverpool Culture Company to assist with our work in the run up to Liverpool's 2008 Capital of Culture celebrations.

Red (2006)
'The acting is superb throughout Graeme Maley's flawlessly simple production - straightforward, hard as nails, yet full of a true sense of tragedy... A tremendous, frightening force-field of a 70-minute drama.'
The Scotsman

Red (2006)
'What is astonishing about Fittock's hypnotically poetic script is the freshness which he brings to the Oedipus myth. He uses it to bring a real understanding to the way men think about those they love.'
The Stage

Red (2006)
'...impressively intense...'
Time Out

The Doll Tower (2005)
'...splendidly written and excellently enacted production about soldier and adventurer T.E. Lawrence... Maley's opening shot sets sterling scripting, production and performance standards... Writer Ronan O'Donnell then takes the ensemble cast and audience on a flight of conscience... A feat in its own right.'
Liverpool Echo

The Doll Tower (2005)
'...the words fresh and different come to mind... This slick production is well paced with atmospheric music... Challenging and very thought provoking.'
Liverpool Daily Post

Fall from Grace (1991)
'A triumph...vital and exhilarating'
The Guardian

Permanent Damage (1996)
'Funny... powerful'
Liverpool Echo

On Famine Road (1995)
